In 1993 - 2000 he studied at Tbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire –at the department of Academic Song. (Professor Gocha Bezhuashvili class)

   In 2006 - 2008 he attended the postgraduate studies –at the Department of Academic Song. (Professor Gocha Bezhuashvili class)

   Since 2001 till now he works at Tbilisi Z. PaliashviliStateOpera and Ballet Theater as the leading soloist.

From 2006 to present heworks at E.Mikeladze Central Musical School as anAcademic Song teacher.

From 2003 till now he works attheTbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire as a soloist ofthe Operatic Studio.

   In 2014, he conducted the master classes at the Stockholm Opera University for the students of Master's and Bachelor's Degree Programs within the framework of the Linnaeus-Palme International Exchange Program (Sweden).

   Since 2017 he is an Assistant Professor of the Academic Song Department ofTbilisi V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire.

   Zaal Khelaia performs an active concert work. He has a wide opera, concert and chamber repertoire. He has performed following parties at the Opera stages:Leporello (V A. Mozart, "Don Giovanni" ), Figaro (A. V. Mozart, "Le Nozze di Figari" ), Conte Almaviva (A. V. Mozart, "Le Nozze di Figari" ), Renato (G. Verdi, "Un Ballo in Mascera" ), Germont (G. Verdi, "La Traviata" ), Conte di Luna (G. Verdi, "Il Trovatore" ) Eugene Onegin (P. Tchaikovsky "Eugene Onegin" ) and etc.
